VOICE OF DEMOCRACY

Voice of Democracy

The VFW Voice of Democracy program for 2025-2026 is now accepting entries. The theme for this year is "How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?"

Established in 1947, the Voice of Democracy audio-essay program allows high school students to express their views on democracy and patriotism. Each year, nearly 25,000 students from grades 9-12 compete for over $1 million in scholarships. The national first-place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship, paid directly to their American university, college, or vocational/technical school. Other national scholarships range from $1,000 to $21,000, and each VFW Department's first-place winner receives at least $1,000.
